TIFTON — Two armed robberies took place Wednesday afternoon in Tifton.

The first reported robbery took place at 1:45 p.m. in the 700 block of Park Avenue, according to the police report.

The victim was walking down the street when a black male came up behind her and “demanded that she give him what she had,” the report stated.

When she refused, they began to “tussle,” according to the report.

The victim told police that the man was holding a shotgun, and that another black male joined in the robbery and kicked her in the head.

The victim told police that the only thing stolen was a pink knife, the report stated.

The second reported robbery was called in less than an hour later, at 2:41 p.m., according to a second report, less than half a mile from the first.

The victim reported that they were robbed by two assailants wielding a knife or cutting tool in the 1100 block of South College Avenue, the report states.

According to the report, the victim told police later in the day that she believed the offenders were two black males who, according to rumors, have been committing armed robberies against businesses and individuals.

Police were able to recover several items belonging to the victim.

It is unknown at this time if the two robberies are related.
