8 Colquitt County FFA members to compete at state

MOULTRIE — Eight Colquitt County FFA members have been chosen as state finalists with their agricultural proficiency projects. Agricultural Proficiencies are based on a student’s Supervised Agricultural Experience Project, which is a project completed at home that is related to agriculture.

Each is a region finalist, representing all of South Georgia in his or her Agricultural Proficiency. They’ll compete at the state FFA Convention this month in Macon.

Garrett Harrell, son of Julie Harrell, will compete with his Agricultural Proficiency project in the area of Agricultural Processing. Harrell’s project involved working for Mobley Plant Company growing tomatoes.

Jacob Murphy, son of Michael and Tammy Murphy, will compete with his Agricultural Proficiency project in the area of Agricultural Mechanics. Murphy’s project involved working for his family business, Murphy’s Decorative Concrete, installing residential concrete work.

Elizabeth Beacham will compete with her Agricultural Proficiency project in the area of Diversified Horticulture. Beacham’s project involved operating her small floral business, Buds and Bows, as well as being a floral design intern for the high school.

Murdock Wynn, son of Ronnie and Penny Wynn, will compete with his Agricultural Proficiency project in the area of Diversified Livestock production. Wynn works on his family’s farm, Wynn Farms, where he is responsible for the care and upkeep of beef herds and swine.

Libba Johnson, daughter of Scott and Laura Johnson, will compete with her Agricultural Proficiency project in the area of Veterinary Science. Johnson works at Pineywoods Veterinary Clinic in Valdosta, where she is responsible for assisting the veterinarian in all duties required at the clinic.

Mary Grace Harbin, daughter of Tim and Pam Harbin, will compete with her Agricultural Proficiency in the area of Outdoor Recreations. Harbin volunteers at Reed Bingham State Park in Adel, where she assists campers at Junior Ranger Camps and helps with park clean up days.

Morgan Hart, son of David and Kelly Hart, will compete with his Agricultural Proficiency in the area of Agricultural Services. Hart works at Rowell Auction Company where he assists with on-site auctions and general duties at the company.

Tyler Robinson, son of Brian and Tracy Robinson, will compete with his Agricultural in the area of Fruit Production. Robinson is responsible for producing and marketing of the watermelons and cantaloupe on his family’s farm, BTR Farms.
