Gas prices rise across the board

VALDOSTA — Gasoline prices took a sizable leap last week on the local, state and national levels.
The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline Sunday in Valdosta was $2.25, up five cents from seven days earlier, according to AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
The lowest price for gas in the city Sunday was $2.12 a gallon at a retailer on U.S. 84 west of Valdosta, while the highest was $2.69 at a North Patterson Street location, according to the price tracking website gasbuddy.com.
No retailers were listed by gasbuddy as offering fuel for less than $2 a gallon in Valdosta Sunday, continuing a months-long trend, according to gasbuddy.
Nationally, the average fuel price Sunday was $2.39, up seven cents from the week before, while Georgia’s average of $2.27 was also up seven cents during the same period, according to the auto club.
In market trading Friday, a U.S. missile attack on Syria sent crude prices higher. U.S. oil added 54 cents, or 1 percent, to $52.24 a barrel in New York. Brent crude, the standard for international oil prices, rose 35 cents to $55.24 a barrel in London.
