Elizabeth Funderburk did not approach a personal-best in the 1,600 meters in the Westover Invitational on Friday at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany, but she was plenty fast for another first-place finish.

Funderburk, whose best time in the event is a 5:04, ran a 5:18.25 as she and her teammates continue to prepare for the Region 1-7A track meet scheduled for April 19 at Lowndes.

The veteran junior, who also is a key member of the Lady Packers golf team again this spring, was the only member of the Colquitt County team to win an event on Friday, but Kiarra Lovett brought a silver medal back to Moultrie.

Lovett, also a junior, was second in the high jump after her 4-foot, 10-inch effort.

Colquitt County’s 4×400 team of Kaleb Dawson, Tyrese King, NyQuann Washington and Ahmari Lewis earned a bronze medal with the time of 3:33.58.

The Packers sprint medley relay team of Jeffery Lowery, Timothy Parker, Andrew Walker and Zachary Wright also had a third-place finish with its time of 4:03.95.
