MOULTRIE – Bases loaded situations made for some drama Tuesday on Ike Aultman Field at Jerry Croft Stadium.

Colquitt County High’s junior varsity baseball team took advantage of its scoring opportunity to plate the go-ahead run, and then the Packer defense ended the game turning a double play on Coffee High’s JV. The final score was 4-2.

In the bottom of the fourth with the score tied 2-2, the Packers had three straight singles. McKenzie Powell was at bat and ‘took one for the team,’ which counted for his second RBI in the game.

Alex Bledsoe, in the bottom of the fifth, tripled in an insurance run for Colquitt County.

Turner Sircy and Reese Bledsoe each had two hits in the game.

Eli Faison pitched 4 2/3 innings with five strikeouts. Trace Eakins fanned four batters in two innings.

But when it was the top of the seventh, a pair of walks around one hit allowed by Eakins filled the bases. With one pitch, however, the ball was hit in play off the plate. Catcher Tucker Hathcock got the ball and tagged out the runner from third coming home.

With hesitation from the batter, coach Chance Pitts said it was then an easy throw out to Sircy at first base to end it.
