Girl’s father smashes window of visiting boys’ automobile

MOULTRIE, Ga. — A girl’s denial of knowing the people in a car parked on her father’s property when he arrived home led to a misunderstanding — and a broken windshield.
Jesus Del Angel told police that when he arrived at about 10:30 p.m. to his residence in the 300 block of Dean Matthews Road he noticed a gold-colored car parked behind a peanut trailer.
Del Angel’s daughter told him she did not know the people, and when he went to talk to them they drove away. He used a 2×4 board to smash the rear windshield of the car.
A tea cup containing what police believed to be vodka was found in the area.
A second deputy spoke with Baudilio Martinez and his brother, Julio, who told police that while they were leaving a friend’s residence her father returned home. They reported that he threw an object that broke the rear window.
One of the brothers told police that the man’s daughter had invited them over by text message and they had gone there driven by their sister Fanny Martinez in her 2001 Nissan Altima.
The officer explained to the brothers and driver that if Del Angel’s daughter had told the truth about knowing who was in the car, Del Angel would not have suspected the occupants of the car of being involved in a burglary or other illegal act and would not have reacted as he did.
