The No. 26 Georgia College baseball program (22-9, 9-6 PBC) made easy work of Clark Atlanta University (11-16, 5-4 SIAC) Tuesday afternoon, defeating the Panthers 30-3 in seven innings at John Kurtz Field.

It was all Georgia College in this mid-week non-conference matchup, scoring a whopping 30 runs on 25 hits to take down the Panthers who pushed across three runs on 11 hits.

The Bobcats set the tone in the first when senior Brandon Benson (Loganville) and Logan Mattix (Loganville) smacked back-to-back home runs to get the Bobcats out to an early lead.  Georgia College took a 4-0 lead heading into the second inning.

After batting around the order in the first, the top of the Bobcat order was due up in the second.  Georgia College managed to push across five more in the bottom half of the inning, including another home run from clean-up hitter Mattix.  The five-run second gave the Bobcats a commanding 9-0 lead after two innings of play.

Georgia College tacked on three more runs in the third off a couple defensive miscues from the Panthers that plated two to go along with a sacrifice fly, giving the Bobcats a 12-1 lead after three innings. 

Georgia College was firing on all cylinders Tuesday afternoon as they turned a triple-play in the fourth to shut down a potentially big inning for the Panthers.

The Bobcats had plenty of run support to close out this one after recording eight runs in the fifth, followed by a huge ten run inning in the sixth to total 30 runs on the day.

A notable performance from the Bobcats came from Phillip Stiles (Lumberton, New Jersey) who started in the leadoff spot, recorded five hits while driving in two runs and scoring three times. 

Junior Aaron Moore (Grovetown) and Evan Troutt (Alpharetta) also had a nice day at the dish, both going 2-for-3.  Moore had three RBIs with a pair of runs scored and Troutt drove in two while scoring three of his own. 

Kane Keith (Hogansville) got the nod Tuesday afternoon after coming off an injury and tossed three solid innings while allowing one run on six hits.  Keith was credited with the victory.

The Bobcats are back to Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play this weekend when the travel to Lander University to take on the Bearcats at 6 p.m. Friday.
