Savvy Caregiver Training at the Live Oak Library

LIVE OAK, Fla. — Savvy Caregiver is a free, six-session training program designed for caregivers who serve family members and friends with any form of dementia (i.e. Alzheimer’s). The goal of Savvy is to increase knowledge and skills to lessen caregiver stress and improve levels of care.  Training begins Wednesday and continues for six weeks. It will be held at the Suwannee River Regional Library, 1848 S. Ohio Ave., in Live Oak. Sessions are from 10 a.m. to noon. ABAC hosts A Night of Broadway Music

TIFTON, Ga. – The First Tuesday Concert Series on April 4 will feature the much anticipated “A Night of Broadway Music” at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of All Faiths at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. This concert is open to the public at no charge. Featured performers at the event will include ABAC faculty member Brian Ray and past and present ABAC music majors. Dr. Andy Lagrimas, Assistant Professor of Piano and Theory at ABAC, will serve as the accompanist. The First Tuesday series, now in its 15th year, features regional professional artists on the first Tuesdays of five months during the year. Six ABAC students graduating in May with associate of fine arts degrees in music will perform during the event. Taj-Juan Bivens of Tifton will sing a selection from “Rent.” Jay Branch and Kyle Robinson, both from Tifton, will perform “Gaston” from Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.” They will be joined on stage by the ABAC Singers portraying village townspeople. Stephanie Sheffield from Moultrie will sing “The Past Is Another Land” from “Aida” and Hanna Ivey from Sumner will sing “Send in The Clowns” from “A Little Night Music.”  Taylor Walker of Tifton will sing “Part of Your World” from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid.” Two freshman voice students scheduled to perform are Shana Morman from Valdosta singing “Summertime” from” Porgy and Bess,” and Asia Bryant from Albany performing “The Colors of the Wind” from Disney’s “Pocahontas.” Two ABAC graduates who completed associate degrees in fine arts, Terrence Gibson from Baxley and Erica Humbert from Thomasville, will sing the duet from “Porgy and Bess,” “Bess, you is my woman now.”  Humbert will also sing “My Man’s Gone Now” from the same musical. Speaker to address anger management

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Donna Wilson, family violence intervention facilitator, will discuss anger management at NAMI Night at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, at First United Methodist Church, 409 First St. S.E. in Moultrie. The National Alliance on Mental Illness’s Moultrie chapter meets at 6 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the church. An educational program is held on first Tuesdays, followed by support groups; third Tuesdays include support groups only.

 

Local camera club to meet

DALTON, Ga. — The Carpet Capital Camera Club meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Creative Arts Guild, 520 Waugh St. The meeting’s topic is “Your Phone as Your Camera.” Attendees will receive tips for using their smartphone to create better photographs. Bring your own smartphone photos and join the discussion. The meeting is open to the public. You do not have to be a member to attend. Easter egg hunt coming to Grassy Pond

LAKE PARK, Ga. — The Grassy Pond Easter Egg Hunt will be held 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. April 15 at the Grassy Pond recreation area, 5360 Grassy Pond Road in Lake Park. The event is open to the public and there will be free park entry.
