Couple charged after argument in restaurant

MOULTRIE, Ga. — An alleged intoxicated couple who argued at a Moultrie restaurant and left without paying their check were arrested when they returned to the restaurant to look for something they lost and then ran out of gas.
Huddle House, 401 Veterans Parkway N., reported that a couple who was at the restaurant from around 11:30 p.m. Friday to midnight left after the man threw a drink at the woman while they were arguing.
An employee got a license plate that was associated with a 2004 Ford Expedition owned by Amy Caroline Giles.
Later, police received a call that the couple had returned to the restaurant looking for lost property and drove away again, still not having paid for the $26 worth of food they had eaten.
A Colquitt County volunteer firefighter notified police that he was behind the Expedition and officers found it parked near the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 10th Avenue Southeast. There, they found John Tremaine Reynolds walking on the sidewalk.
Reynolds looked like the man captured on video at Huddle House, police said. He smelled of alcohol, police said, and was unsteady on his feet, and when asked about paying for food earlier he replied that he went to Waffle House. He was then arrested.
Giles, who was in the driver’s seat and also exhibited signs of drunkenness, initially denied going to Huddle House, saying that they had gone to Waffle House. Shown a receipt given to police by a Huddle House employee, Giles told the officer that they had paid it when they returned.
A portable alcohol sensor indicated that Giles was beyond the legal limit and she too was arrested.
During the time officers were speaking with Giles, Reynolds blurted out “random things relating to having drugs and not being the driver,” police said. No drugs were found in the car or on either Giles or Reynolds.
Reynolds, 37, 2301 West Blvd., was charged with disorderly conduct and theft of services.
Giles, 42, of the same address, was charged with driving under the influence and theft of services.
