Thieves target vehicles

MOULTRIE — Thieves made off with more than $500 worth of cash and property, including a gun, in a trio of cases in which cars were entered.

One of the thefts was reported Wednesday by Artevia Brown, 800 block Shy Manor Drive, who told police that property valued at $665 was taken from a 2010 Honda Accord.

The stolen items included clothing valued at $340, a gun worth at $320 and $4 in cash.

In other reported entering auto cases:

• Andrea Thornton, 36, Thomasville, reported Wednesday the theft of $214 and other property valued at $4 from a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria parked in the 700 block of Highway 133 South.

• Jamaal Bentley, 800 block Fourth Street Northwest, reported Wednesday the theft of property valued at $18 and $2 in cash from a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix.

Moultrie Police

• Murphy Oil USA, 504 Veterans Parkway S., reported Wednesday that a shoplifter stole merchandise valued at $44.

• Hibbett Sports, 639-C Veterans Parkway S., reported Wednesday that a female shoplifter concealed a pair of Trio pants inside her bag and walked out without paying for them.

Police investigated reports that the woman walked into the nearby Wal-Mart store and later learned she exited that business through the auto shop area and walked away.

An employee did not know the value of the stolen pants.

• Waffle House, 1900 First Ave. S.E., reported Wednesday that someone walked out without paying a $5 check.

• John Paul Watson, 900 Tree Farm Road, reported March 13 the theft of a trailer valued at $1,250 from a residence in the 2300 block of Funston-Sigsbee Road.

• Chassidy La Faye Mitchell, 24, 187 Church St., Ellenton, was charged Monday with simple battery.

• Ada Joyce Slaughter, 32, 624 Third St. S.E., was charged Wednesday with failure to appear.

• Enedina Cabrera Perez, 34, 220 East Gate Circle, Norman Park, was charged Wednesday with driving on wrong side of the road and driving without license.

• James Edwin Barnes, 57, 503 Yogi Bear Road, Norman Park, was charged Wednesday with burglary and four counts theft by deception.

Norman Park Police

• Angel Gonzalez, 24, 2600 Seventh St. Apt. A7, was charged Wednesday with criminal trespass.

• A Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office jailer reported Wednesday that Danny Fritts was attacked by another male at the facility.

• Carolyn Wace, 300 block Highway 111, reported Wednesday that a male relative punched her in the mouth during an argument. 

Karey Elliott, Wace’s son, told police that his mother hit him once and then “ran into his arm” and that he did intentionally hit her.

Police took Elliott into custody and expect to charge him with battery (family violence). No arrest warrant was available as of Thursday morning.

• Christina Snyder, 3300 block Doerun-Norman Park Road, reported Tuesday that someone obtained a fraudulent student loan in her name in the amount of $2,266.
