Cairo Dollar General hit with armed robbery

CAIRO — An armed robbery was reported at a Cairo Dollar General on March 22.

According to an incident report, an officer responded to the store, located at 425 2nd Ave SE, at 10:24 p.m. 

The officer made contact with two store employees, a male and female. The complainants informed the officer an armed robbery occurred as two black males wearing all black forced their way into the store armed with handguns. 

One of the complainants informed the officer one of the males stated he “would blow his head off.” 

With a gun to his head, the male complainant opened the safe and gave money to the robber.

After giving the money to the robber, the male complainant was thrown to the floor and hit several times, according to the incident report. 

The female complainant told the officer one of the suspects grabbed her by the hair told her he would kill her. The female was also thrown to the floor. 

According to the incident report, the armed robbery occurred prior to the two employees closing the store.   

The incident report did not state the amount of money taken.
