MOULTRIE, Ga. — A book signing for Mose Kinsey, author of “A Hero’s Journey” is set for 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. April 1 at the Moultrie-Colquitt County Library.
Eggzellent Easter in the Park April 8
MAYO, Fla. — The Lafayette Activities Group is hosting Mayo’s Eggzellent Easter in the Park on Saturday, April 8, from 11 a.m. -to 2 p.m. This is a free event.
There will be an Easter Egg Hunt, face painting and music.
The Easter Bunny will make a special appearance for the children.

Huffabaloo celebration set for May 7
DALTON, Ga. — The third annual Huffabaloo celebration (the May Day Festival) is at the Huff House property of the Whitfield-Murray Historical Society on May 7 from noon to 6 p.m. The festival is a reminder of local heritage and a fun experience of old-fashioned games for children of all ages. Huffabaloo benefits the renovation and restoration of the historical property and keeps history within the minds and hearts of area citizens, organizers say. There will be tours of the home, a maypole dance, music, stories told of important historical figures of the local area, a presentation by author Carolyn Curry and more. Resurfacing scheduled to begin
RAY CITY — Resurfacing projects on state routes in Berrien and Lanier counties are scheduled to begin Wednesday, March 29, as the Georgia Department of Transportation continues to tackle deferred road maintenance, according to a state Department of Transportation press release.
The contractor will work on the two projects simultaneously because the routes join in Ray City. They are:
— Eight miles on state Route 37 from the Cook County line to State Route 125. The construction cost is $1.44 million.
— Ten miles on U.S. 129/State Route 11 from east of the Alapaha River in Lakeland to SR 125. The construction cost is $1.98 million.
Motorists should prepare for traffic delays. Slow down when approaching the work zones and pay attention to the directions of the flaggers, according to the press release.
Both projects should be complete by Nov. 30. The contractor is Reames and Son Construction Co. Inc. of Valdosta.
Ramirez named Ray Guy Prokicker.com Top Prospect
TIFTON, Ga. — Ray Guy Prokicker.com has honored Fernando Ramirez with a Top Prospect Award, according to a recent release from the group. Ramirez, a kicker for Tift County High’s football team, has an invitation to compete at the National Top Prospect Camp in Richmond, Ky. in July. The award is the second for Ramirez, who was also honored in 2016. The Top Prospect Award said it promotes the top long snappers, punters and kickers for college recruitment. Evaluations are done at Ray Guy Prokicker.com camps. Tift County High hosted a Ray Guy Prokicker.com camp in 2016.
Lockstep Technology Group presents scholarship check for GMC technology students
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — A metro-Atlanta based information technology engineering firm is providing additional financial assistance to GMC students interested in technology. On Friday, March 24, Lockstep Technology Group donated $5,000 to the Lockstep Technology Group Scholarship fund that was established and endowed last year. This gift is provided to grow that fund so that it can continue to support GMC students. The company is headquartered in Duluth, Ga and serves companies all over the United States.
The Lockstep Technology Group Scholarship provides financial assistance to any student attending one of GMC’s 13 campuses taking courses in a technology-oriented program. The scholarship covers a student’s tuition, fees, or books. To be a scholarship recipient, a student must maintain a full course load and initially have a cumulative GPA of 2.5. To maintain the scholarship, the cumulative GPA cannot fall below a 2.5, in which the scholarship will be withdrawn and awarded to a qualified recipient for the next academic year.
