2 men report robbery attempt

MOULTRIE — An apparent robbery attempt was the alleged cause of an attack on two people walking Thursday morning on West Bethel Avenue.

Matthew Williams, of the 2300 block of Sylvester Drive, reported the incident after his son Michael Moss and Jonathan Moore arrived at his residence shortly before noon.

Moor and Moss told police that while they were walking on West Bethel Avenue a group of males called to them from a white house and invited them into the yard.

 Once they were in the yard, they said they were surrounded by two black males and two white males who demanded their belongings.  When one of them struck Moss they ran to Moss’ residence.

In other reported battery incidents:

• Veronica Maldonado, 100 block Green Street, reported Sunday that a male relative struck her in the face several times during an argument over text messages he had sent.

Maldonado told police that when she tried to call for assistance the man took the phone and broke it by using it to strike her in the face.

Maldonado had swelling to the right eye, scratches on her face and redness around the neck or throat where the man grabbed her, police said. Emergency medical personnel took her to Colquitt Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The man left before officers arrived, and Maldonado was able to call for help from a neighbor’s residence.

• Pamela Robertson, 1700 block Thigpen Trail, reported Friday that two male relatives got in a fight at her residence.

No arrests were made due to conflicting accounts of the incident, police said.

• Miriam Ester, 800 block Greenfield Church Road, reported Wednesday that a female relative hit her on her arms with a rope or cord.

Ester also showed officers a photo that she said she took on an earlier date when the woman hit her in the face.

Ester had no visible injuries on her arms, police said, and the photo did not appear to show any evidence of injuries.

• Trevnta Crowder, 700 block West Central Avenue, reported Saturday that a female acquaintance hit her two times in the face.

Crowder’s daughter told police that she saw the woman hit her mother twice.

Qunika Fields, 2800 block Sylvester Drive, met police at the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office where she told them during an argument over her child with Crowder she was getting near her “boiling point.” When they reached her residence the argument continued, and when Crowder smirked at her, Fields hit her. 

Emergency medical personnel treated Crowder, police said. Fields, 2827 Sylvester Drive, was charged with battery.

Arrests

• Alex Williams III, 35, 2309 Dean Matthews Road, was charged Thursday with criminal trespass. 

Police arrested Williams after Jvanita Pearson reported hearing a window being broken at about 6 a.m. at her residence in the 100 block of Edmondson Road.

Pearson told police that after hearing the noise she went into another room and called 911.

A deputy found that a bedroom window had been broken, with a “large amount” of blood on the broken glass an more blood inside on the walls. A short time later Williams, who had fresh cuts on his right arm, approached the officer and told him that he was trying to find his cousin’s residence in the mobile home park.

• Alberto Cruz, 33, 6515 U.S. Hwy. 319 N., Omega, was charged Saturday with driving under the influence, open container in vehicle and driving without license.

• Roy Lynne Cunningham, 39, 2419 University Drive, Valdosta, was charged Sunday with failure to appear.

• Rocky Loyd Gillard, 53, 3860 Mt. Zion Road, Camilla, was charged Friday with bail jumping.

• Angelee Fender Hill, 40, 385 Sleepy Bear Road, Norman Park, was charged Sunday with failure to appear.

• Xavier Rodriguez Rogers, 19, 114 Fourth St. S.W., was charged Friday with failure to appear.

• Austin Michael Lassiter, 1729 Villa Drive, was charged Thursday with failure to drive within single lane and possession of marijuana.

• Alan Padilla, 22, 2809 Fifth St. S.E. Apt. L4, was charged Nov. 15 with simple assault.

• Jason Robert Rhoads, 33, 5014 Bay Rockyford Road, Coolidge, was charged Friday with failure to maintain lane and driving while license suspended.

• Oradell Sanders, 67, 608 Circle Road, was charged Saturday with disorderly conduct.

• Quntavion Dewayne Spivey, 24, 1315 Ninth St. S.W., was charged Thursday with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and driving while license suspended or revoked.

• Angela Lorette Twiggs, 37, 311 W. Bethel Road, was charged Saturday with contempt of court.

• Ada Joyce Slaughter, 32, 624 Third St. S.E., was charged Thursday with theft by shoplifting.

• Macon Lajetta Revill, 30, 540 27th St. S.E. Apt. 3, was charged Thursday with theft by shoplifting.

• Jeremy Patrick Fields, 24, 120 Cotton St., Sylvester, was charged March 10 with theft by receiving stolen property and forgery.

• Kyle William Ricks, 28, 748 Bluebird Road, was charged Feb. 26 with driving under the influence.

• Brooklyn Key, 1000 block Funston-Sigsbee Road, reported Friday an incident of credit card fraud totaling $741.

• Cheryl Dato, 100 block Phillip Causey Road, Doerun, reported Friday that the driver of a red Suzuki Tracker struck the rear of her 2015 Ford Focus while she was stopped at a red light at Highway 133 and Highway 33 North.

Dato told police that the male driver smelled of alcohol and drove away when she called law enforcement.

• Tasheena Johnson 20 block East Bethel Avenue, reported Monday that someone broke the front windshield and front passenger windows of a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe.

The cost to repair the damage was not immediately available.
