Packer gymnasts the big winners at home meet

MOULTRIE – The Colquitt County High Lady Packer gymnastics team on Saturday scored a 107.05 as the best in the entire meet held at the YMCA, especially topping fellow Class 7A teams Camden County, who had a 100.75, and Lowndes, who had a 96.70.

Timia Fowler and Jordan Yates both met their third qualifying scores for individual events and All-Around for the GHSA qualifying meet to be held on April 15 at Dunwoody High School. The next step would be the GHSA finals, which will be held April 21 at Ola High School.

Fowler took first on all events and All-Around: vault 9.8, bars 9.8, beam 9.4, floor 9.3 and All-Around 38.3.

Yates placed second on vault (9.5), second on bars (9.4), third on beam (8.8), third on floor (9.1), and second All-Around (36.8).

Lillian Fagan also made her third qualifying score on vault with a 8.5.

“We are excited to be traveling to Dunwoody to compete as a team and to have three girls qualifying for individual events,” said coach Patti Wier. “From the state qualifying meet, the top 12 girls on each event (vault, bars, beam and floor), the top 12 All-Around scores, and the top 6 teams will advance to the state meet.”
