MOULTRIE, Ga. — The Magnolia Garden Club annual luncheon was held in Cairo at the lovely home of Mary Phillips, club member. The home was decorated throughout with flowers from Mary’s garden. Each table had a small bouquet. Members brought their own special covered dish for the luncheon. There was a variety of salads, vegetables, casseroles, desserts, drinks and fried chicken. Ruby Bowermeister shared a devotion on “Love” and said the blessing for the meal.
Faye Rowe gave certificates to everyone for their service during the past year. Lorena Barhite was presented a plaque for her 16 years of dedicated service in the Magnolia Garden Club. Mary Phillips shared her awards that she received at the Perry Flower in 2016. She received more ribbons and awards than any other person at the Flower Show.
The Magnolia Garden Club yearbook was updated for 2016-2017 and each person received a new copy. The club has organized a fundraiser and prizes were given to three lucky winners, who were Grace O’Kelley, Lorena Barhite and Jackie Estep.
The next meeting will be held April 4 at the Colquitt County Museum at 9:30 a.m. and remember to bring three horticulture specimens and one perennial.
Five things to do before you get up each day:
1. Express gratitude.
2. Set your intentions for the day.
3. Take five long deep breaths in and out.
4. Smile for no reason — just flex the muscle.
5. Forgive yourself for yesterday’s mistakes.
