VALDOSTA — A Lowndes County school bus driver was arrested Tuesday afternoon at Hahira Middle School for a drunk driving charge before she was about to leave the school with a bus full of students, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.
Amanda Mullinax, 41, was arrested by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office and charged with numerous counts of driving under the influence and endangering the life of a child, the sheriff’s office said.
Lowndes County Sheriff Ashley Paulk said when the buses were loading up at Hahira Middle Tuesday afternoon, Resource Officer Tim Yorkey noticed a problem with a school bus. Yorkey reportedly smelled alcohol, so he unloaded the students and called in backup, Paulk said.
A sobriety test recorded a number at twice the legal limit, Paulk said.
