- The Moultrie Rotary Club recently welcomed new member, Doug Howell. Howell has been serving as the superintendent of Colquitt County Schools since August 2016. He is also a retired lieutenant colonel from the United States Air Force Reserve. From left are Moultrie Rotary President Tonero Bender, Howell and Howell’s Rotary sponsor, Jim Matney.
On Feb. 28, the Moultrie Rotary Club was visited by Coach Tony Kirkland and nine members of the Colquitt County Packers Baseball team — front row from left, Jay Saunders, Wheeler Hunnicutt and Austin Singletary, and back row, John Samuel Shenker, Jacob Coots, Buck Blalock, Hayden Bledsoe, Logan Wheeler and Ian Brinson. Kirkland described the team as getting better with every game played and predicts to see this group in the play-offs this year. The Rotary Club members had questions for the athletes and offered their support as the team works to have a successful and fun season. The Rotary Club meets every Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Sunset Country Club.
