MOULTRIE, Ga. — Plans are shaping up for the Moultrie Federated Guild 60th Annual Antique Show to be held on March 17, 18 and 19 at Southern Regional Technical College on Veterans Parkway.
“The Federated Guild supports our community with our many projects that we volunteer our time to physically help and/or donate funds,” said Lesa Moser, antique show chairman. “We earn these funds by our once a year project, our Antique Show. All members work many hours for an event that brings in many dealers from all over the South and visitors from around Georgia.”
The show will be open to the public on Friday and Saturday at 10 a.m., and on Sunday at 11 a.m. Tickets can be purchased from any guild member or from Sid’s Antiques and Gifts for $5 or at the show for $7.
Lunches will be available each day, along with homemade layer cakes, and there will be an Italian Night Dinner on Friday, from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets for the dinner are available by calling Jackie Mise at 229-891-6711 or at Mashburn Printing. “Soul Food Sunday” lunch will be catered by Chef V starting at 11 a.m. These tickets are available by calling Vanessa Hayes at 229-337-7248 or by email at chefv_personaltouch@hotmail.com. Special events this year will include Ronnie Barrett with Flowers by Barrett, who will be giving a floral demonstration at 10 a.m. Friday. Also, on Friday, at 2 p.m., Kathryn Holland, family and consumer science agent, will speak on “How to Knowledgeably Choose Antiques.” On Saturday morning, at 10 a.m., Gail Beaver, Master Gardner, will present a workshop on “Succulents, Those Wonderful Plants.”
Several vendors will be returning to the antique show this year, both local and out-of-state. Sylvia Rowell with “Windsor House Antiques” of South Carolina will show items like crystal, silver and collectibles and local artist Randy Gibbs will be showing and selling his paintings. More dealers returning this year include Legacy Rugs, Hall’s Nursery, Molly’s Antiques and Fine Collectibles, Coleman’s Collectibles, Antiques by Wanda, P & S Antiques, The Gliding Goat, Bob Howell and Sid’s Antiques & Gifts. Some vendors new to the show this year are Art Center Collective of Moultrie, Finest Kind Boutique of Crystal River, Fla., Grace’s Collection of Valdosta, Ga., and ESLS Antiques of North Carolina.
“We have some new dealers this year from the shops in Boston, Ga., to add a different setting of vintage items and some things you might not have seen before,” said Moser.
In addition to the show, gift drawings will be held on Sunday afternoon. Participants do not have to be present to win. The raffle tickets are $5 each for a chance to win one of the following gifts: A restaurant package valued at $200, handmade jewelry from Leah Garcia, $200 gift certificate to Cranford Jewelers, fresh flowers for six months from Flowers by Barrett, $300 gift certificate to the Laser Center of Moultrie, $500 gift certificate to Turner’s Dress Shop, teeth whitening by Dr. David Howington or a one-half day quail hunt at Peacock Plantation. These tickets can be purchased from any guild member or by calling Susan McCranie at 229-941-2652.
The antique show is Moultrie Federated Guild’s only fundraiser and benefits the community through various projects and programs. Without the support from community leaders and sponsors, the show would not be possible, Moser said.
