MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Five local basketball players will hit the hardcourt one more time this season as they have been selected to participate in all-star games. Four are seniors and will lace up their basketball shoes and represent their respective schools for the last time.
John Milledge Academy varsity boys Andrew Prestwood and Keontay Miles along with girls’ team standout Rose Clements will travel to the Ben Lippen School in Columbia, S.C. this weekend to participate in the GISA vs. SCISA All-Star Game.
Prestwood and Miles were both huge reasons the Trojans earned the school’s first boys’ region championship since 1991 and competed in the Final Four last weekend. Prestwood really showed out in the region championship game against Westminster when he put up 40 of his team’s 53 total points. On the girls’ side Clements could be counted upon on the interior for steady numbers every time JMA took the floor.
Two Bravettes were also chosen to play in a local all-star game as senior Courtney Butts and junior Akirah Robinson will participate in the Middle Georgia All-Star Game Saturday, March 18 to be held at Tattnall Square Academy in Macon. The two girls will have a familiar face leading their team as BHS head coach Randall Owens will lead the East squad.
Butts led the team in scoring by averaging 14 points and six rebounds in her senior campaign while Robinson put up 10 points, four rebounds, and four assists per contest in her junior season. Both Butts and Robinson were named All-Region for Region 3-AAAA.
