Rants and Raves

What are the rules: “I, too, have been concerned about people driving wheelchairs on main thoroughfares. I truly feel for those people but I’m a realist and it scares me when I happen upon one in traffic. I almost hit one on Old Thomasville Highway one day. I  had nightmares about that. Just what are the ordinances regarding motorized wheelchairs on the streets?

“There’s no problem at Cox and Stringfellow? I know for a fact that in the last four years eight outstanding teachers have transferred to teach at other schools because they wanted to teach at the same school with their children, but there was no way they were taking their children to those schools! That answers the question!

Open meetings

“Once again, I see all sorts of challenges to how our schools are run but I see very few people at school board meetings. You do know these are open to the public, don’t you?

Good to see

“I’m glad to see the police sweep at the schools. I think this should be done more often.

Tickets

“ To the ranter who thinks our police don’t write enough tickets: Writing a ticket isn’t the only way to address a problem. Sometimes a polite conversation or a warning can accomplish the same thing. The goal is public safety. To serve and protect can be accomplished in many ways.

Thanks

“Thanks to whoever pointed out the reason for more than one police unit at a traffic stop. Indeed, it’s a matter of safety for both the public and the officers involved.

Questions

“More appropriate questions are why doesn’t The Moultrie Observer write an unbiased report on the status of segregation in our schools? Why doesn’t the BOE hire a firm to investigate the allegations and put this to rest? Neither will because they don’t want to upset the status quo. It’s been this way since they were forced to integrate!

Cat in the Hat

“A picture of someone dressed as the ‘Cat in the Hat’ does not equate to good things happening at a school!  Did Cox allow the whole school to go to snow day and BMX bike day like Sunset? No!Just because they’re on a list that says they’re doing better than expected doesn’t mean they’re doing good either!
