Colquitt County High School FFA was represented by sophomores, from left, Kirk Beacham, Eason Roberts, Amber Murphy and Caleb Hall in the state-level Ag Mechanics CDE hosted Feb. 5-6 at Fort Valley State University. The Ag Mechanics team must complete a variety of tasks such a wiring electric motors, welding, using a transit to figure acreage, measuring and determining the mechanical advantage of hydraulic jacks, installing cylinder heads on a Briggs & Stratton engine, and rebuilding an engine as a team. They also had to take a written test. They placed first in the area, where Beacham was high individual, and they placed ninth in the state.
