Pleasant Hill MBC plans ordination service

MOULTRIE, Ga. — An ordination service for Minister Charles David Lawton will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Funston, where the Rev. John W. Greene Jr. is pastor.
The Rev. Lamar Corbin Sr., pastor of Norman Grove MBC in Moultrie, will bring the ordination message.
Lawton was born to the late Sam and Bessie Lawton. He received his early education in the public school system of Colquitt County and graduated in 1975 from Doerun High School. Upon graduation he moved to Detroit, Mich., where he was employed by General Motors for several years. He later returned to Doerun and was employed at Wells Aluminum and Hubbell Diecasting.
Lawton joined Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and began singing in the youth choir and later the adult choir where he served several years as the choir president. After being licensed, he served as son of the house at Pleasant Hill and has preached at several church events.
He is the father of three children and grandfather of eight grandchildren.
