LIVE OAK, Fla. — With the help of the Lake City Police Department, the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office arrested Antonio Marquez Dortly at a residence on Houston Avenue on Thursday.
According to a LCPD report, Dortly, 42, was believed to be armed and known to have a violent criminal history.
At 5:10 p.m., LCPD and Florida Department of Law Enforcement surrounded the home, while SCSO SWAT Team made entry and detained Dortly, the report states.
Dortly was then taken to Suwannee County Jail where he will be extradited to Columbia County to face charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery and kidnapping.
The report states that on Tuesday, Feb. 14, a female victim entered the lobby of LCPD stating she had been kidnapped, but escaped. The victim told police Dortly took her from a friend’s home, where she had been hiding from him.
She said he thought she stole money from him. When he found her, he forced her into his vehicle and drove to several homes in an attempt to find the stolen money, the report states.
After Dortly failed to find the money, he allegedly put a gun to the victim’s head as she got on her knees, begging him not to kill her, according to the report. The victim told police he threatened to shoot her in the face, after grabbing her by the neck and choking her.
Dortly then released the victim and sent her to find the stolen money. He threatened her family if she did not return with it, the report states. Instead, the victim fled to LCPD, where a warrant was put out on Dortly.
