MOULTRIE, Ga. — Police have located two of three trailers stolen recently, with the trail twisting and turning into two additional counties.
The Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office located two of the trailers in the last two days in Albany and some of the stolen goods from the thefts in Terrell County.
A Broadleaf Trucking truck was stolen on Saturday night from 3333 Freedom Lane outside Moultrie, and two of the company’s other trailers were stolen on separate occasions in Cairo. Each of the trailers, which the thief hauled away with a semi truck he drove to the locations, was loaded with Mactavish furniture.
“We’ve got the location on some of the stolen loads over in Terrell County,” sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Robinson said on Thursday. “We’re working with them and the Cairo Police Department to get an ID on a suspect.”
During the course of the investigation, Robinson said, some of the furniture — but not all — from each of the three thefts has been located. The trailer stolen in Colquitt County and one from the Cairo thefts have been recovered.
Surveillance video taken during the Colquitt County theft shows the truck arriving at about 10:34 p.m. and leaving with the trailer, Robinson told The Observer earlier this week.
The trailer, valued at $8,000, contained $15,000 worth of furniture.
