The lynchings: “About the Mary Turner lynchings: I recall my grandparents talking about that. There are much more gruesome details about this case than is printed on the plaque. I was told the baby was ripped from her womb and mutilated as well. This is a story of hate and yes, inhumanity. There must be a special place in Hell for people who do such things. But let’s not be naive. We still have some of that kind of hate in hearts of humankind. It’s fed by extreme ignorance.

The horror

“Yesterday, I stopped by the Little River Bridge on the way to Hahira and read the plaque that Mr. Walden wrote about. I, too, had passed it many times without noticing it. The horror expressed there is hard to believe. But yes, it was a sorry time in our local history and should not be swept under the rug!

Inconsistencies

“Eight months ago, Trump was cursing Japan calling our relationship (providing security with no payments to us) as being ‘stupid.’ He repeated it over and over. Now he says we will stand with Japan. I don’t have a problem in helping secure another nation that defines itself as our ally. I just never know where Trump is coming from with all of his inconsistencies.

Go back and look

“To the person who said that Hillary would not be featured in editorial cartoons. Maybe you should go back and look at some of those published during the campaign. Or maybe you are one of those who just adheres to a ‘they say’ mentality.

Citizen’s arrest!

“So someone who has just moved here thinks our police department is not enforcing traffic laws. Well maybe you should visit municipal court. So do you follow the patrol cars around and tally the number of stops they make? Here’s an idea: You can run out in traffic and yell ‘citizen’s arrest’ like Gomer did in Mayberry. Or better yet, just get a hobby.

Not right

“I don’t care anything about music or no dance at Cox School. But I am tired of the adults and teachers and para pros talking to my baby like dirt. That ain’t right. It is wrong!

The banquet

“I cannot believe the football banquet…a dessert bar? These boys deserved more than that.. especially when our coach preaches nutrition. And talk about unorganized!  And then the coach starts his political spill. The banquet is about the boys, not the coach talking about his budget … very disappointed.
