CHATSWORTH, Ga. — With just one candidate qualifying, there will be no need for a planned March 21 special election for Chatsworth City Council Post 2.

Qualifying ended on Friday with only Rhett Griffin qualifying. He qualified on Wednesday.

Griffin will fill the unexpired term of Brad Rowe, who died in October. The term concludes at the end of this year.

Elections will be held in November for Post 1, which is currently held by Celeste Martin, and Post 2. Jeff Cloer is the councilman for Post 3 and Fred Welch for Post 4.

Rowe, who served as president of First National Bank in Chatsworth for many years before retiring, was in his first term on the council. He died after “fighting cancer for years,” said Chatsworth Mayor Tyson Haynes.
