MOULTRIE, Ga. — The United Way is helping Americans file their taxes for free.
If your family made $64,000 or less in 2016, you can use the website at MyFreeTaxes.com to file your income taxes, according to a flyer provided by United Way of Colquitt County. The site, powered by H&R Block, is associated with the national United Way’s website.
You will need:
• Social Security or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number for each family member and working adult.
• 1095-A if you received a tax credit from the healthcare.gov marketplace.
• Childcare provider’s name, address and tax ID, if applicable.
• Bank routing and account numbers for checking or saving accounts (if you qualify for a refund via secure direct deposit).
• Last year’s tax return, if you have it.
• A valid email address.
• W-2s, 1099s, 1098s and other forms as applicable.
Angela Castellow, executive director of the United Way of Colquitt County, said one advantage of the site is that it allows a taxpayer to start the process, then save their work and come back to it if they find they need additional documentation.
Last year, 18 returns were filed on this site from Colquitt County with an average return of $2,333.11, Castellow said.
