Literacy Volunteers of Tifton-Tift County to hold Choc-It-Up

TIFTON — The fifth annual Choc-It-Up for Literacy returns this week at the Spring Hill Country Club.

The fundraiser is at 6:30 p.m., Feb. 7.

Local restaurants, caterers and bakeries will bring their best chocolate concoctions as attendees sample and judge their work, voting for Best Tasts, Best Presentation and Best in Show.

There are nine local businesses presenting their chocolate work: BJ’s at Spring Hill, Cakes by Audrey, Espresso 41, Generational Sweets, Hilton Garden Inn employees, La Calentana Mexican Bakery, Red Lobster, Ruby Tuesday and Smallcakes: A Cupcakery.

In addition, there will be a silent auction, featuring jewelry, artwork, tickets to see Idina Menzel at the Fox Theatre and a Savannah cottage vacation, among other things.

The money raised goes to Literacy Volunteers of Tifton-Tift County.

Literacy Volunteers helps adults prepare for the GED test, as well as teaching English class for adults.

The group also offers tutoring in science, math and social studies, as well as ACT, SAT and COMPASS test prep.
