- Members of the Tifton-Tift County Chamber of Commerce along with local leaders and American Textile Company representatives break ground Thursday.
TIFTON, Ga. — American Textile Company celebrated the groundbreaking of its next local facility Thursday.
The 384,000 square foot facility is the third local facility for the company that makes pillows, sheets, comforters and other bed linens.
After opening its first facility in Tift County in 2011, American Textile followed it up with an expansion in 2012 and a second building in 2014.
“The first year they came here, they were doing $115 million a year in sales,” said Brian Marlowe, president and CEO of Tifton-Tift County Chamber of Commerce “Now, they’re doing over $200 million.”
The company also has locations in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Salt Lake City, Utah and Dallas, Texas.
“They say the production down here, the work ethic is fantastic,” said Chris Beckham, vice-president of the Tifton-Tift County Chamber of Commerce.
The facility has a projected move in date of late May or early June.
American Textile’s new location is the first occupant for the Tift County chamber’s new industrial park. The company announced they wanted the location last year right after work started on the first spec building.
“It’s a good problem to have,” said Beckham. “We’ll build another spec building and hope we have the same kind of success.”
