Gas prices hold steady in Valdosta

VALDOSTA — Gasoline prices held steady in Lowndes County during the past week, according to statistics.

The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline Sunday was $2.15, unchanged from seven days earlier, according to AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

The least expensive fuel reported Sunday was $2.04 a gallon at a West Hill Avenue retailer, according to the price tracking website gasbuddy.com. The rate continues a months-long streak with no retailers around Valdosta offering gasoline for less than $2 a gallon.

The most expensive fuel Sunday was $2.84 at a North Patterson Street store, gasbuddy said.

Nationally, the average price of gasoline was $2.28 Sunday, down three cents from the previous week, while Georgia’s average of $2.18 was also lower than a week earlier by three cents, the auto club said.

In Friday market action, benchmark U.S. crude oil fell 61 cents, or 1.1 percent, to close at $53.17 a barrel in New York. Brent crude, used to price international oils, slid 72 cents, or 1.3 percent, to close at $55.52 a barrel in London.
