Applause: “Applause to those honored at this year’s chamber of commerce banquet. We are fortunate in this community to have those individuals who contribute so much in their efforts to make Moultrie and Colquitt County a better place in which to live.

“I’m kind of surprised that the comment on adultery directed toward Christians in our commuity didn’t also single out Democrats, given that so many people view us as the anti-Christ.

No proof

“So Trump declares that 3 million people voted illegally in the recent presidential election. Yet he offers no proof of such and his press secretary bumbled any kind of response. If Trump is going to continue to ‘shoot from the hip’ making outlandish statements, then we are in for four years of embarrassment.

Buy local?

“I see the Chamber had their banquet last night. As much as they push to “buy local,” why would they use a caterer from out of town for the dinner, when there are a number of caterers and restaurants from Moultrie that can do the job as good if not better.

Trash issue

“After leaving the top to my trash receptacle on the ground over and over again, they’ve finally done it. It’s gone! My guess is that it’s in the garbage truck on the way to the landfield. At least I don’t have to reattach it to my receptacle as I’ve done almost weekly!

The storm

“Yes indeed, Colquitt County was very fortunate during the recent storms. I traveled to Cook County and my heart was saddened at the damage there. As well,?I saw photos from Albany where buildings were tossed about like they were toys. Many lives were lost. Let’s keep those families in our thoughts and prayers.

Thefts and drugs

“That’s a pretty good take on jail overcrowding. We’ve either got to come up with a way to deal with drug addictions or build a bigger jail. Thefts and drugs are linked. Make no doubt about that. I’ve been a victim of theft that was directly tied to the purchase of illegal drugs.

Good idea

“It’s a good idea to photograph your belongings. And to put identifying marks on some pieces that likely could be theft items. I have photographed every room in my house at every angle possible as well as close ups of some items. The photos are on a flash drive stored in my safety deposit box. Not only does that help in recovery of stolen property but it’s good to have when you file an insurance claim. I encourage everyone to do this.

No sir

“No, we don’t want to make national news by building a ‘prisoner of war’ type of jail here. In the big picture, that would only add to our problems. It would do little to solve them.
