Former Packer Stancil named head football coach at Peachtree Ridge High

SUWANEE – The Gwinnett Daily Post is reporting that, on Thursday, former Colquitt County High quarterback Reggie Stancil is the new head football coach at Peachtree Ridge High School.

Stancil will be leaving his current positions as quarterbacks coach and head baseball coach at Norcross High School for his first head football coaching job.

At Colquitt County High, Stancil made All-State twice in both football and baseball. In 1996 and 1997, he was the Packers starting quarterback. Over his career he completed 255-of-512 passes for 4,376 yards and 53 touchdowns.

In baseball, Stancil had a career batting average of .359 for the Packers with 91 runs batted in and 16 home runs. He also went 17-6 with a 2.71 ERA as a pitcher.

During the Packers 1997 state championship season, he batted .329 with three home runs and 16 RBI and was 6-1 on the mound with a 1.97 ERA.

Stancil would play college football at Jacksonville State, where he had 6,276 yards total offense.

In 11 years at Norcross, Stancil was a part of two state championship football teams. In his one season as baseball coach, he led the Blue Devils to a 27-8 record and a berth in the Class AAAAAA state semifinals.
