MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Columbus truck driver had a gun placed to his back in a Saturday evening robbery when he was checking the oil in his semi in a parking lot.
Edward Jones, 47, told police that his truck was parked behind a gas station in the 1300 block of Veterans Parkway North. As he was tending his truck a man put a black revolver pistol, possibly a .38-caliber snub-nosed, to his back and spoke to him in Spanish.
The assailant grabbed the walled from Jones’ back pocket and then ran to a red 1980s model Chevrolet pickup truck that had a generator in the bed. The gunman got into the passenger seat and as the driver pulled away he heard a “thud” sound that he realized was his wallet hitting the ground after being thrown out.
When he checked the wallet, Jones found that $600 was missing. Nothing else was taken from the wallet.
The robbery is still under investigation by the Moultrie Police Department.
