LIVE OAK, Fla. — Suwannee offensive lineman Josh Braun was named to the 2016 MaxPreps Football Freshman All-American Team.
At 6-foot-7 and 300 pounds, Braun towered over opponents as a freshman.
He used his size, strength and agility as a blocker to help Suwannee average more than 200 yards per game on the ground.
Braun credited his family, teammates and coaching staff for helping him make the freshman All-American team.
“It’s a great honor,” Braun said. “The strength program helped me a lot. In summer workouts, my teammates really took me in and made me one of them. My dad and the coaching staff here has been really supportive.”
Braun had lived in Texas, but moved back to Florida in the summer of 2016 after his father accepted the offensive coordinator position at SHS. It was a pretty smooth transition when he moved to Live Oak.
“I’m sort of used to moving,” Braun said. “It wasn’t that hard coming here. Suwannee is a great community full of tradition. They make you feel like family.”
SHS coach Kyler Hall spoke highly of Braun and his team-first attitude.
“He knows it’s not about him. It’s a team deal,” Hall said. “When you work the way he does and perform the way he does, you get recognized.”
