Pedestrian killed on US Highway 129

JASPER, Fla. — A White Springs man died after being struck by two vehicles Saturday evening in Jasper.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, Michael Dennis Morgan, 44, of White Springs, was in the southbound lane of US Highway 129 at 7:40 p.m. when he was hit by Terrence Tyrone Houston, 33, of Live Oak.

Houston’s 2004 BMW was traveling South on 129 near the US Highway 41 intersection when it hit Morgan, according to the report.

The impact sent Morgan into the northbound lane where he was hit, for a second time, by a 2006 Hyundai Accent driven by Makayla Nicole Cooks, 18, of Jasper, according to the report.

Morgan was pronounced deceased at the scene. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Houston, Trevontae Oliver, 22, of Jasper, a passenger in Houston’s car, and Cooks all escaped injury in the accident, according to the report.
