Gas prices keep rising

VALDOSTA — Gas prices in Valdosta continued to increase during the past week.
The lowest price for a gallon of regular gasoline in Lowndes County Sunday was $2.24, three cents higher than the previous week, according to AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
The lowest price in Valdosta Sunday was $2.12 at a West Hill Avenue store, while the highest was $2.84 at a retailer on North Patterson Street, according to the price tracking website Gasbuddy.com
No store in Valdosta was listed by gasbuddy as offering gas for less than $2 a gallon Sunday.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline Sunday was $2.37, up 10 cents from the previous week, while Georgia’s statewide average was $2.26, up a penny from seven days earlier, according to the auto club.
In Friday market action, U.S. crude oil rose 23 cents to close at $53.99 a barrel in New York. Brent crude, which is used to price oil sold internationally, added 21 cents to close at $57.10 a barrel in London.
In other energy trading, wholesale gasoline slipped less than 1 cent to $1.63 a gallon. Heating oil rose 1 cent to $1.70 a gallon. Natural gas rose 1 cent to $3.29 per 1,000 cubic feet.
