Troopers work 7 wrecks in Colquitt County
MOULTRIE, Ga. — State troopers from the Thomasville Post of the Georgia State Patrol investigated seven traffic crashes during the month of December in Colquitt County. Sergeant First Class Tommy Peeples III said the traffic crashes resulted in no deaths. Peeples said troopers from Post 12 Thomasville also issued 35 traffic citations in the county during the month. The total includes no arrests for driving under the influence, 15 citations for speeding, four seatbelt violations, and no child restraint violations. Troopers also issued 145 warnings.
McAlpin Community Club to have history lesson
MCALPIN, Fla. — Did you know that McAlpin was once a bustling community with several businesses and a train depot? Are you a descendant of the early residents in the area? Come to the McAlpin Community Center on Monday at 6 p.m. to learn more about McAlpin history. We will have a covered dish meal at 6 p.m., followed by an interesting program presented by Susan Coleman Fennell, who has extensively studied the history of the area. Have your questions ready, and if you have any old pictures or interesting stories to share, bring them with you. Town hall meeting to outline plans for park
DALTON, Ga. — The Dalton Parks and Recreation Department will hold a town hall meeting on plans for a park at the Haig Mill reservoir on Thursday at 6 p.m. at City Hall. The project will be funded with $5 million from the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) that voters approved in 2015. The meeting is an opportunity for residents to learn more about the details of the park and the amenities it will provide.
Armed robbery at Domino’s Pizza
TIFTON, Ga. – The Tifton Domino’s Pizza located on 8th Street was robbed at approximately 9:37 p.m. Jan. 2. Two black males wearing dark clothing took cash from the till and made their escape on foot. One suspect was apprehended near the scene, and money and evidence from the robbery was recovered.
