MOULTRIE, Ga. — The suspected gunman in a Dec. 17 robbery of three teen-agers was jailed after police received a little help in the case.

The three victims, who are Thomas County residents, reported being held up that night by two men as they went to their car in the 500 block of Darbyshire Road.

One of the robbers reportedly had a gun and took the driver’s cell phone. When the gunman noticed a backpack in the car he demanded it as well.

“The juveniles were held at gunpoint during the theft,” Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office Inv. Austin Cannon said.

The third teen had not gotten in the car at the time of the robbery, and he reported that the second assailant held a knife to his back.

In addition to the driver’s phone the robbers took a second iPhone, Cannon said. The backpack contained cash and some cigarette vaporizers.

“We received a tip on a possible offender,” he said.

As a result, police arrested Frank Anthony Thomas, who was the alleged gunman.

“All three of the victims individually identified Frank Thomas, who was the person we received a tip about as one of the offenders.”

Thomas, 19, 615 10th Ave. N.W. Apt. B, was charged with armed robbery, party to the crime of armed robbery and aggravated assault.
