MOULTRIE — Colquitt County’s Shelby Burnette finished first at 170 pounds and Nic Jarvis won the championship at 220 pounds at the Hook ‘Em Holiday Clash held Thursday and Friday at Lambert High in Suwanee. The Packers also got strong performances from Victor Castanon, who finished third at 152, and Deontae Edwards, who was sixth at 126.

Jarvis raised his season record to 31-2 with 25 pins.

Burnett is now 27-5 with 13 pins.

The Packers are now preparing for the Region 1-7A duals, which will be held at the Colquitt County High gymnasium on Saturday, Jan. 7.

The expected lineup for the region duals includes Jared Collum, 106 pounds; Alek Rosales and Zach Kirkland, 120; Edwards, 126; Timmy Brinson, 132; Clint Folsom, 138; Hayden Suggs, 145; Castanon, 152; Alex Hinson and Kenneth Casteel, 160; Burnette, 170; Gage Kent, 182; Tyler McKinnon, 195; Jarvis, 220; and Brian Merritt, 220.

“This coming week will be the most important of the season thus far,” coach Evan Goff posted on the team’s Facebook page. “We need everyone to be healthy, locked in and loaded.”
