MOULTRIE, Ga. — Colquitt Christian Academy (CCA) is an independent Christian school that implements the classical model of education (grammar, logic and rhetoric stages). The school’s educational philosophy is centered around innate developmental stages, which school officials say increases students’ desire to learn.
“CCA’s certified teachers have a heart for Jesus and children,” the school said in a press release. “With small class sizes (12 to 1 student to teacher ratio) and challenging but attainable curriculum expectations, each student is equipped with the knowledge and wisdom necessary to navigate the world around them.”
Students dive into reading, writing, math, history, and science daily. Grammar students actively participate in memory work while Upper School students explore facets of logic and theology. Students begin to study Latin in second grade, which staff said deepens understanding of English grammar. CCA uses art and music to encourage students to use all talent areas. Fine arts and in-depth academic curriculum enable students to develop into knowledgeable graduates who are well spoken and deeply rooted in their faith.
Additionally, CCA uses Christ-centered philosophies of discipline and service. Students volunteer time and gifts each month to places like the Food Bank, nursing homes and the Humane Society with the desire to give back to the community and help others in need.
Founded in 2015, CCA recently acquired accreditation through the Georgia Accrediting Commission. “This validates the desire of the CCA board and faculty to be a reputable and quality educational choice,” the school said.
Graduating students are eligible for the HOPE scholarship. In addition, CCA is an active member of the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) which provides professional development opportunities for faculty and athletic/interscholastic competitions for students. The school has a chess club and plans to participate in the GISA-sanctioned chess tournament in March held at Marist School in Atlanta.
CCA will add athletic teams in the spring as well.
