MOULTRIE, Ga. — Troy Construction recently partnered with the Christmas Love Project to get bicycles and other gifts for Colquitt County’s children in need.

Employees of the company rallied around the initiative to purchase bicycles for less fortunate children who might not otherwise receive one. Most of the employees purchased bicycles from Walmart and the office personnel collected them until it was time to present them for the Christmas Love Project, which was founded by George Wallace III of Moultrie, a Troy Construction employee.

In addition to the bicycles that were purchased, the company matched the donations with a $2,500 company check to help ensure that these families not only received bikes but additional toys and necessities as well, Wallace said.

“Troy Construction has not been in the area long, but has definitely made every effort to make a profound statement of their appreciation for being here,” Wallace said.

The company, which is laying the local portion of the Sabal Trail natural gas pipeline, also helped Wallace with a food drive at Thanksgiving.

Superintendent Howard Bridges shared during the Thanksgiving season how important it is to the company that they are able to help enhance the lives of the people in whatever community they’re working in. The company recently established a central location in Quitman, so, Troy Construction implemented the same initiative into the Quitman community where they helped families by giving dozens of bikes and gifts to the families in need there.

For Colquitt County, this year marks the fifth year that Wallace, founder and president of the South Georgia Hawgs, has successfully helped families through The Christmas Love Project. Other agencies such as Department of Family Children Services and Youth Mentoring Advocacies worked with Wallace to find families in need of assistance for the Christmas season.
