MOULTRIE, Ga. — Hope House offered its annual Stand for Life scholarship to Colquitt County High School with a value of $2,000.
Seven seniors applied, and three applicants were selected for interviews by the scholarship committee, Anne Swartzentruber, Kayla Jones, and Corey Shiver, all board members of Hope House. Those interviewed were Faith Hall, Abbie Galphin, and Annie Murphy.
Murphy was selected as the recipient.
She is the daughter of Scott and Wendy Murphy. She and her family attend Norman Park First Baptist Church where she is active in youth ministry and mission trips with SHA missions. She is president of Key Club at CCHS and a member of FCA leadership team at CCHS. She leads Bible study for FCA, is a cheerleader for the varsity cheerleading squad, and is a tutor at Innovative Learning Center.
As the recipient of the scholarship Murphy will advocate for Hope House by educating her peers about the services they provided. Also, she will lead a book study on “Stand for Life: A student’s guide for making the case and saving lives,” written by John Esor and Scott Klusendorf in 2017.
