TIFTON, Ga. — When George Lee was three years old in 1950, his father won a truck in a contest and traded it in for a car.
Sixty-six years later, his father’s luck has found him.
Lee’s name was pulled Friday from hundreds of names, winning a 2016 Ford Focus as part of Short and Paulk’s 75th anniversary celebration.
Lee lives in Parrot and put his name in at Short and Paulk’s Dawson location.
“He comes in for house repairs,” said Betsy Hodges, manager of the Dawson location. “He’s fixing up an older home.”
“You’re kidding me,” Lee said when he was reached by phone. “Golly. What do I gotta do, drive it away?”
Lee was in Macon at the time of the call.
He made plans to come down Monday to pick the car up.
“It’s always good to think about the good times we’ve had,” said Jay Short, president and CEO of Short and Paulk. “We’re going to start on the next 75.
“The economy is getting better. We’re seeing the housing market come back.”
