A good thing

“So why is the ranter so concerned about Trump putting billionaires on his staff. They obviously are successful in what they do … running businesses. Maybe they will apply those skills to getting our country out of debt and putting us on sound financial standings.”

Fundamental

“Being concerned about such things as garbage collection is fundamental to civic pride. Not only that, speaking about it is fundamental to the First Amendment.”

A chance

“Give the new roll-out garbage can program time to work. People will learn the rules and if not, there are laws to help them along with that understanding.”

Observation

“A few weeks ago there was an incident of domestic violence near a local sandwich shop. Officers tried to calm the situation down and get to the bottom of it. During that process, other people interfered and somewhat of a scuffle ensued. Several people got arrested.

“This is how such incidents sometimes turn into tragedy. Our officers are just trying to do their jobs when suddenly they are confronted by others who should be minding their own business and not interfering with law enforcement.”

Bad experience

“$100 dollar citation by the City of Norman Park right before Christmas by police chief. Went to have Christmas lunch with my daughter at school, parked along roadside next to school behind eight other cars. When I left school 45 minutes later, the entire row of cars had tickets — didn’t see the fairly new sign banning parking. Tax dollars at work!”

Getting in free

“FYI: Administrator, CAG teachers, CCHS teachers and BOE passes are given by CCHS principal Terrell. Some, but not all, coaches get passes from GHSA. Those that don’t receive them get in free simply because they’re county coaches. If all those people get in free, why not elementary and middle school teachers?”

The holiday issue

“I see federal and state offices, banks, post offices and many businesses will observe the federal holiday on January 2, but good ole teachers will be back at work! Boo Hoo! Quit complaining teachers! The way our schools are failing you need to be at work.”

Our lights

“I read the letter from the person who was passing through town and was impressed with our Christmas lights. Indeed we have something special that brightens the world of young and old. I’ve been enjoying those lights since I was a small child. Now my grandchildren enjoy them. I think it’s true that a small community does a better job at such celebration than does a large city. We are closer … more like family. That’s one reason I left the big city years ago. I can walk down the street here and greet people I know.”
