SYLVESTER – For a second-straight game, Diamond Hall recorded a double-double for Colquitt County’s girls basketball team. Her 33 points almost matched the Lady Packer output for the fourth quarter Saturday, and it was in the fourth that coach Rondesha Williams said her team “got off the school bus” to beat Worth County High 64-24.

Hall added 12 rebounds to her line in helping Colquitt’s girls remain unbeaten at 7-0.

Za’Nautica Downs maintained her scoring pace this season by scoring 22 points to go with eight rebounds.

Williams said this game had three “lazy” quarters where the Lady Packers had a total of 30 points. But Worth had just 18. The fourth-quarter was a 34-6 blitz.

“That’s when we decided to play Lady Packer basketball,” said Williams.

Akia Sutton had five steals, and Kiarra Lovett grabbed seven boards.

Williams now is seeking a big crowd on Tuesday when finally Colquitt basketball will be at home for the first time since Nov. 15. They will play Bainbridge in a doubleheader with the boys.

“We need the community out to support boys and girls basketball,” said Williams.

After the Bainbridge game, the Lady Packers will prepare for yet another road trip, but in this one the competition will reach a new level. It’s the Peachstate Shootout Dec. 22-24 at Clayton State University. In this bracket tournament, Colquitt plays North Clayton in the first round, with the winner facing either Westlake or Tucker. Tucker was a state finalist last season.
