Animal care

“Animal lovers: If you have pets please make sure they are protected from the freezing weather. It is so heart breaking to see animals left in the cold and rain, especially those that are tied up. Our humane society needs your help. Canned food, dry food, bleach, blankets, pine sol etc. would help.”

No respect

“I was driving behind a vehicle on Old Adel Road when someone on the passenger side of the car in front of me tossed a sack of trash out the window. A drink cup followed the trash bag so I guess they had been through a fast food drive-through. It didn’t seem to bother them that I was right behind them and could have reported their irresponsibility. Maybe I should have. Likely this was the way they were raised and that’s sad. No regard for other people. And apparently no self respect.”

Fact of life

“The ranter is right about the sports comment. Indeed the fans determine the popularity of a sport. You don’t see big crowds and cheerleaders at a ‘curling’ event. That’s not to say that the competitors don’t have skills and they don’t have fun at their sports. But the fact is, there are ‘lesser’ sports and that’s just life. It’s not right or wrong, it just is.”

Climate

“I agree. We do need intelligent conversation about our climate and man’s involvement. You won’t keep politics out of it but hopefully science can prevail. I think maybe because we live in rural South Georgia the issue does not hit home with us as dramatically as it might for someone who lives in a large metro setting and breathes in all of that carbon monoxide.”

Tired of it all

“I’m about tired of that ‘getting in free’ to sporting events stuff. I could well argue that I’m a taxpayer and I should get in free as well.”

I don’t buy it

“I don’t think man impacts our climate as much as the talking heads want us to believe. Historically the earth has seen both heating and cooling events long before we had cars and smokestacks.”

Electoral college

“I think the electoral college is a good thing. And I agree with someone who said that this voting concept was brought about because the founding fathers didn’t think the nation via popular vote could make wise decisions.”

Suggestion

“So if you see doctors who are not handicapped parking in handicap slots, why don’t you politely ask them not to do that? It might work.”

Sad thought

“I wasn’t born when Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese. But I lost a relative there. I watched a television program with a few of the veterans who survived that attack interviewed. As they told their stories, I realized that in just a few years they will be gone.”
