Observation
“I want to rant about doctors and handicap permits. I have now seen two different doctors park in handicap spaces at the YMCA, walk in and exercise on treadmills, and bikes and walk out. Do you men really need to use handicap spaces?”
What action?
“So what about the teachers allegedly involved in domestic violence? Are they still in the classroom?”
The chuckle
“I enjoy your ‘chuckle of the day’ on this page. Recently you had one about No. 2 pencils. So is there a No. 1 and a No. 3 pencil?”
Amazed
“Mr. Walden, with reference to your recent column about armored trucks where valuables were lifted or cash fell out the back door, I also Googled that subject and was amazed at how often this happens. Like you, I suppose those personnel who operate the trucks didn’t show up for class the day they covered ‘locking the back door.’”
Traffic
“Too much traffic at YMCA for solid waste trucks to have to pick up on 26th Ave. S. E. There has got to be a better solution to this problem.”
Trash dumping
“I have lived on David Newton Road for many years and to the point, throw your dang trash somewhere other than on or beside our road. Do you happen to own a garbage can? Use it! Littering is so ugly.”
Getting in free
“To those complaining about not getting into the games for free, school employees can get in for free with their school ID, high school and CAG. The coaches and administration get in for free from GHSA passes, has nothing to do with local. Just for your information and God Bless.”
Electoral college
“When we express concern over our Constitutional electoral method of choosing a candidate for office of president, without this constitutional safeguard, candidates would visit areas with large populations to garner the majority vote.
“With this knowledge, one would prefer that California, Texas, New York and Florida not be in the position of choosing our president.
“Factually, the nine most populous U. S. states contain slightly more than half of the total population.”
Pipeline
“I’m glad we did not make the national news with some people trying to block the Sabal Pipeline coming through our community. Statistically there is very little danger from such a pipeline. I understand that farmers can plant crops right over it but can’t put permanent buildings on it. And they are paid well forth its usage. Just a sign of progress.”
Don’t read
“You are right. Few youngsters read anymore. They play video games.”
