McAlpin Community Club collecting toys for kids

LIVE OAK, Fla. — The McAlpin Community Club will be collecting new toys and children’s clothing at the McAlpin Community Center on Monday, Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. In addition to toys and clothing, the club is also collecting non-perishable food and cash to be delivered to families in southern Suwannee County during the club’s meeting that night. Tampa man charged in domestic incident

MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Tampa, Fla., man was arrested on Saturday in a domestic dispute on B. Allman Road.Deputies dispatched at about noon to the 200 block of B. Allman Road to a report of a father hitting his daughter took Jackie Spraggins into custody. Brianna Spraggins reported that he hit her in the face and that a female relative threw bottles at her. Spraggins had visible facial injuries, police said. Gracie Spraggins, Brianna Spraggins’ grandmother, told police that the girl struck Jackie.  Video taken with a cell phone by another relative showed Brianna Spraggins walk away from her father, who then chased her down, grabbed her and hit her as he threw her to the ground, police said. Jackie Spraggins, 43, 6508 24th Ave. E., Tampa, Fla., was charged with simple battery.

 

ABAC Manna Drop feeds 400 families in Tifton

TIFTON, Ga. — The third annual Manna Drop organized by the students at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College raised nearly $20,000 with the help of Tifton’s local businesses and members of the community. This year, the ABAC students were able to provide food to 400 families on Nov. 19 at Charles Spencer Elementary School. Volunteers at the event gave away 2,600 pounds of ham to those in need in the community.  The goal of the Manna Drop is to provide families in Tift and surrounding counties with a proper Thanksgiving meal. Anyone interested in making a donation to next year’s Manna Drop can make checks out to the ABAC Foundation and include Fall Manna Drop 2017 in the memo section.
