MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — A Milledgeville man, who reportedly hasn’t been seen or heard from in about two months, is now officially regarded as a missing person by local authorities, The Union-Recorder has learned.
The missing man was identified as 41-year-old Rico Gartrel Macklin, according to a missing person’s report filed Nov. 28 with the Milledgeville Police Department.
Macklin, who has lived at addresses in Milledgeville and Athens, has worked as a truck driver, a family member told police.
Tiffany Salembier filed a missing person’s report on Macklin with police after he failed to show up at his father’s funeral a little more than two weeks ago.
The younger Macklin had lived with his father, the late Lucious Macklin, at 250 E. Charlton St., according to statements given by Salembier to police.
The woman also told police that Rico Macklin had not spoken with his 17-year-old daughter since August. At that time, the conversation was via phone.
Salembier said the telephone number that his daughter had on her father was no longer in-service.
She said Rico Macklin had been a truck driver in the past, but that she wasn’t certain if he was employed anywhere today, according to the police report.
The officer said in his incident report that the missing man’s information would be placed into the data banks of both the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC), as well as the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).
The officer also issued a local broadcast or what police refer to as a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) for Rico Macklin.
Milledgeville Police Department Communications Officer told the newspaper still was missing Thursday afternoon.
Anyone with information regarding Macklin’s whereabouts should call the Milledgeville Police Department’s tip line at 478- 414-4413.
