MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Colquitt County man’s attempt to retrieve some car stereo equipment got out of hand on Wednesday, leading police to shock him into submission and arrest him.

Police were dispatched at about 1:30 a.m. to the 133 Denham Road, Norman Park, residence of Pedro Nicholas Gonzales and Melissa Haynes.

When the officer arrived, Gonzales said that he needed to get his clothes from inside the house and get his amplifier and speaker from a car.

Haynes told police that Gonzales could take the clothing but needed to wait until the next day to get the stereo equipment.

Gonzales became irate, police said, and began to fight with his mother, Maria Gonzales, 40, of Moultrie. As the first officer who arrived tried to separate the two, Pedro Gonzales tackled him and they fell into the street, police said.

Another deputy arrived and when Gonzales refused commands to release the officer a third deputy used a Taser to subdue him.

Police charged Gonzales, 21, with battery against a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct.
